Shop our renovation

We recently renovated and moved into a 1950’s home in Asheville near Biltmore Village. We have more plans for this land, the garage, and the home, but for now we are happily settling into our new space!

The interior was designed by Mary Evelyn Pritchard, founder of The Holographic Home. Our goal was to maintain the character of the home while adding in modern elements, and highlighting colors we find in nature surrounding the property.

We were working with a tight budget, so we invested in a few key pieces and did our best to keep costs low on other items. Here are a few things we bought and how we styled them!

We went with forest green cabinets in the kitchen, bought pre-painted from Lowes. We added these pulls to the drawers, which add some classic wood tones to the cabinets, making them feel more timeless. We were planning to have a custom built island installed, but for now we are using this simple stainless steel prep counter . It’s light, mobile, and makes the kitchen feel a bit more modern, so we’ve actually been loving it!

On these cabinets we stained these pulls with the same stain used in other parts of the house. We also used these on other pieces of furniture to elevate items that we didn’t spend much on. Replacing pulls and handles can make a huge difference!

The living room is where we spend the most time, and we wanted a space that would be comfortable for entertaining. The couch is large and cozy, and we added this chair from Ikea as a budget friendly way to add seating and texture to the room. This room also opens into the dining room, where we have additional bench seating.

Our coffee table sits low to the ground, giving a clear line of sight to the fireplace from the couch. We used jute rugs throughout the home; cheap, easy to take care of, and adds something extra to the space!

We thrifted our kitchen table, bench, and chairs. The curtains are simply canvas drop cloths. We used this light kit and an inexpensive paper shade to make a statement above the table.

Daisy absolutely loves her new home!
